not one to miss an opportunity i am doing my best to embrace today. it has not been particularly pleasant. it started out with a stark realization that i was uncharacteristically unkind yesterday. i made a snide comment after a girl whom i did not even know, left the business establishment where she worked. the comment was regarding her "not dressing to her potential". it has bothered me all day. what an awful thing for me to say. shame on me.
my extended family decided to adopt a needy family in our community. i spent the majority of my afternoon shopping for the mom, her parents and brother. simple items were requested. like warm clothes and coats. you would have thought shopping for someone else would have put me in the christmas spirit. it usually does. i wrapped the presents. they look nice. my mood has not changed.
what is the matter with me?
There is nothing wrong with you, Staci. You are human. The joy will come, give it time and revel in it when it becomes apparent. You know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteI think sometimes we HAVE to have these moments ... you never get good without the bad.. and neither lasts forever. You are human, humans have their own thoughts and minds ... sometimes when we are not happy or having a bad day ... we look at others and "judge" to avoid anymore time in our own land... EVERYONE does it... EVERYONE is human. So with that ramble... pink your flesh, take a deep breathe, blink your eyes, suck your stomache in and out real fast like we did when we were kids, pull your t-shirt up and loop it through the neck just because you can be old school.. look in the mirror and know what you don't like today fades..then make a face because YOU ARE HUMAN! XOXOXOXXO
ReplyDeleteWhat Kim and Ame said....Stacilove will overcome these passing, very minor indiscretions.
ReplyDeleteYou know what's wrong with you? You have a conscience and a moral compass! I'd wager that 90% of the world that had the same encounter yesterday would not spare a passing thought on what that indiscretion means in the grand scale. But clearly, you are cursed with the ability to consider your impact (good and bad) on the lives of the people around you. Count your blessings, because I fear you are one of the last of a dying breed. The few,the proud, the civil.
ReplyDeleteAs bells ring out and carols echo everywhere, we should not be surprised if our spirits take a nosedive. It isn't that we don't understand the meaning of Christmas, or that we reject it, but rather that the idealized version of what Christmas should be has often times been denied us. It's too late to change yesterday's... disappointment, but, if we choose, we can make this holiday season the one we'll remember.
