according to some . . . all is right

some people prescribe to the notion that all is as it should be.  that nothing is out of sync.  that the universe is and all that is in it is.  nothing more and nothing less.

i love that many can look at the world with such acceptance.  and i think i would like to have that ability as well.  but, alas, i do not have that gift.

where does that leave questions, dreams, challenges and hopes?  if all is where it is supposed to be where does effort manifest itself?

  1. Staci,
You are not alone in being unable to accept the "all is all" argument. Indeed it is rooted deeply within the Christian faith that all is not as it should be. Indeed most of it has gone dreadfully wrong due to the willful sinfulness of humans.

It may give these people comfort but I think it is perilously close to a lie. How can anyone see a starving child and claim all is as it should be? It calls for a surrender of intellect or compassion of the first order.

    May I recommend rejecting that.

Now all of that said, we are asked to live with patience through our own crosses for which grace will be given. Acceptance of those crosses may look similar to the aforementioned philosophy but it is very different. Even to call it a cross is to recognize something is out of joint. Not as it should be.

Again, feel free to jettison that philosophy. It does not seem to be helpful in the least.

    Ad Astra Per Aspera,
    Kevin
